I often get cards in the mail from my grandma, sometimes wishing me a “very very happy birthday” or to “have a spooky Halloween”. For some reason, those cards feel more meaningful than a text or a phone call, even though they convey the same message. I am interested to know the psychology behind physical letters and cards, as well as why they are so valued in our minds.

“Why handwritten letters mean so much” by Scott Jared

I selected this article because I enjoyed how it highlighted a younger persons experience with letter writing. The article focuses on a college student and her love of writing letters, which began in her preschool days. I enjoyed hearing her thoughts on why letters are so meaningful, as well as why she continues to send them.
